Inner Order
Press.

The publishing imprint behind The Lantern—a home for its editions and related literary work, built to let the books remain books.

Why a press?

A book should be allowed to become a place.

Inner Order Press exists to give the literary work a careful home: a place where language, sequence, typography, image, and physical form can be stewarded as parts of the same encounter.

The imprint is not meant to stand between the reader and the work. If it does its job well, attention passes through the publisher and returns to the page—and eventually beyond the page.

Publishing commitments

What the imprint is here to protect.

01

Experience before explanation.

The book should let recognition arrive before it tells the reader what recognition is supposed to mean.

02

The reader remains the protagonist.

The work may guide, frame, question, and accompany. It should not require the reader to become smaller so the book can appear larger.

03

The world is the final chapter.

The measure of a field guide is not how long it keeps someone inside the book, but what becomes visible after the book is closed.

Where the imprint ends

The press serves the journey.

Begin with the books. The publishing machinery should recede behind them.
